Building Community-Centered Initiatives in Ethiopia and Beyond
Watering Oasis Global is developing sustainable, community-centered initiatives through partnerships, education, capacity building, and locally informed program development. Ethiopia is a central focus of WOG's international work, with current areas of attention including Wolaita Sodo, Arba Minch, and surrounding communities.
As projects move from planning and partnership development into implementation, WOG will document progress, lessons learned, and measurable outcomes on this page.
Ethiopia Focus
Developing Initiatives in Ethiopia
WOG's approach in Ethiopia begins with relationships. We work with community organizations, educational institutions, and local leaders to identify priorities and develop initiatives that can be locally supported and sustained.
Our developing work connects education and youth development, health and wellness, behavioral health education, agriculture and food security, water and community sustainability, climate and environmental resilience, economic opportunity, and institutional capacity building.
Rather than approaching these areas as separate challenges, WOG seeks opportunities to develop integrated initiatives that strengthen individuals, families, schools, institutions, and communities.
Wolaita Sodo
Wolaita Sodo is an important geographic focus for WOG's developing work in southern Ethiopia. WOG's relationships in the area provide opportunities for community-centered initiatives involving education, youth development, health and wellness, behavioral health education, agriculture, food security, environmental resilience, economic opportunity, and capacity building.
Program development will be guided by local priorities, appropriate partnerships, available resources, and sustainable implementation.
Arba Minch
Arba Minch is another area of focus for WOG's developing work in southern Ethiopia. WOG is exploring opportunities for community and institutional collaboration that can connect education, health and wellness, youth opportunity, environmental resilience, agriculture, economic opportunity, and sustainable community development.
Initiatives will be developed in collaboration with local stakeholders and advanced as appropriate partnerships and resources are secured.

Building the Project Pipeline
WOG is developing an integrated portfolio of community initiatives. Projects may move through community consultation, partnership development, program design, funding, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation at different times.
The initiatives described below represent areas of program development and should not be interpreted as completed or fully funded projects unless specifically identified as such.
Community-centered educational and youth initiatives focused on learning opportunities, practical skills, leadership, school capacity, and pathways to future education, vocational preparation, and employment.
Community-based education and capacity-building approaches focused on health literacy, prevention, wellness, behavioral health awareness, youth resilience, and stronger community support systems.
Integrated approaches connecting sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, food security, environmental education, community resilience, livelihoods, and locally appropriate skills development.

How We Will Measure Progress
As initiatives advance, WOG is committed to documenting progress responsibly. Measures will vary by project but may include participation, educational engagement, skills development, community feedback, partnership capacity, program implementation milestones, and other project-specific indicators.
WOG will report outcomes when they are documented rather than presenting projections or planned activities as completed impact.

Participation, learning opportunities, skills development, school or institutional engagement, and youth-development indicators appropriate to each initiative.
Health & Wellness
Health-education participation, awareness, wellness engagement, behavioral health education, and community feedback appropriate to each initiative.
Agriculture & Sustainability

While Ethiopia is currently a central focus of WOG's international development, the organization's mission remains global. Future geographic expansion will occur responsibly as partnerships, resources, community needs, and organizational capacity allow.
